  16.     I recently tried to typeset a document by
  17.     
  18.     entering: \usepackage{palatino}
  19.     
  20.     latex looks for Palatino.tfm but according to the
  21.     file texfonts.map ( I added the following):
  22.     ( setenv KPATHSEA_DEGUG 32 does show that the file looked for
  23.         is Palatino.tfm -- even after it *does* look at texfonts.map)
  24.     Question: It may be that I would have to edit palatino.sty and OT1ppl.fd?
  25.             Also it appears this style is set up for
  26.             textures.dtx and so is not appropriate.

  36. Can someone address the question of matching the "berry" name
  37. with the real name? i.e., given whatever.tfm --->generate "real name"

  41. Perhaps someone has set up the the non cmr fonts; in particular, the
  42. ls ~/lib/texmf/fonts  sources listing?
